What is a succubus? Most are probably familiar with the folklore surrounding the devilish lover and its myth. Despite being the Hebrew and Christian word for "succubus," the most commonly referred to when talking about this subject, the concept of lustful spirits, spirits of darkness, and even loving heavenly spiritual partners has been present in the unspoken fantasies of all kinds of different cultures, east and west, all across human history. For a very long time, the female spirit has been appearing inside the imaginary worlds of men, seen as a gatekeeper of the spirit world. This theme persists, as do the revealing experiences that revolved around it, across several distinct cultures and millennia. So what is it? Is this to be deemed as the old superstitions of dying cultures? Or should we take a more psychoanalytic approach? Is it the anima we are talking about? Scientific and religious institutions are skeptical of or heavily biased in favor of these manifestations. B
